3DO Interactive Multiplayer 3do
The 3DO Interactive Multiplayer was originally produced by Panasonic and released in October 1993, however the following year saw two versions released by Goldstar and Sanyo. All versions of the system was created by the specs put together by the 3DO Company which was conceived by EA founder Trip Hawkins. The 3DO was critically acclaimed for its 3D abilities and processing power, but the high cost of $699 and lack of third party support made the system virtually obsolete before its time. THe system was known for having not only games, but interactive movies as well and marketing itself as not a video game system, but a high-end audio-visual system instead. The system was discontinued in 1996 after only selling 2 million units and 3DO became a third-party game developer.
