Nintendo 64 (N64)

The Nintendo 64 (N64) was launched in the US on September 29, 1996 at the price of $199 with no pack-in games. There were only two launch titles available upon its release: Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64. The Nintendo 64 (N64) is best known for the 64-bit processing power that it is named after. Due to Nintendo still using game cartridges instead of compact disc to store games it was more complicated to develop games for the system. The cartridge had two main flaws, it was expensive to produce and had a lower storage capacity compared to the CD. However, the Nintendo 64 (N64) introduced the first 3D Mario and Zelda titles that are both critically acclaimed. The Nintendo 64 (N64), despite it's lack of third party support, still sold over 32 million units worldwide and is still a popular system in the US due to the hit Mario titles and third party titles such as 007 GoldenEye which are looked upon fondly.
