Sega Dreamcast

The Sega Dreamcast was the last console ever created by Sega and was released on 9-9-99. The system lasted until 2001 when Sega announced they would discontinue the Dreamcast due to competition from the new Playstation 2. Many Sega fans consider the Sega Dreamcast to be Sega's best system and a console that was far ahead of its time. It was the first console to include a built in modem for internet support and online gameplay. The system is also known for its memory cards, known as a VMU (Visual Memory Unit), that had a small LCD screen that displayed images that could be useful in gameplay. The console is known for original games such as Sonic Adventure, Jet Grind Radio, and Shenmue, but also perfect arcade ports of games like Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, and Street Fighter 3. Even though the Sega Dreamcast has long been discontinued it still remains very popular amongst fans and a wide array of homebrewed games are created for it.
